Mathew was great

Cameron Flick

POSITIVE: Having worked together with Matthew years ago (in REO real estate), I knew I wanted him to represent us in our home purchase.

In business he and I are very much alike. Customer/task oriented. Get it done...right. So having Matthew on our side was a no brainer. He performed just as expected. He was on top of every detail and his experience was evident from day one, right through the closing. I think a lot of Matthew and wouldn't want to work with anyone else. NEGATIVE: Our experience was less than perfect with the trusted partners (in house service providers). Will and Southern First did ok. When we were able to get ahold of him, it was obvious he knew what he was doing. But that was the challenge - getting him. Perhaps he is very busy, like others in the industry. There were times, however, when calls/texts/emails went unanswered for days. That, to me, seems a little inappropriate/unprofessional. There were also issues with his underwriter. For the most part, the entire mortgage process went well, up until 24 hours prior to close when we were given some unreasonable stipulations, instead of a clear to close. I won't go into the details, but suffice it to say, I am well qualified, make a good wage, and am experienced in the industry.... That said, it's not right to put any buyer through what we were put through the day before we closed. Nelson and Galbreath was a let down for sure. Somewhat similar to the mortgage process in that for the weeks leading up to the closing, everything was going well. Then, in the 11th hour, things were missed and mistakes made. For example, spelling errors resulting in paperwork needing to be reprinted at close. Another example was that of a single piece of paper related to our trust needing to be sent to the mortgage company. Our closing took two and a half hours. That's how long we were at the closing table. When I did some digging I found out from the lender that a single piece of paper had been requested by the lender several times over the preceeding week and was never sent. I then informed the closing attorney of this oversight and she got someone to send it over. I sometimes wonder how much longer we would have sat there had no one intervened. This was our first home purchase and it was supposed to be an exciting experience. Once the document was sent to the lender, we were dismissed (told we could go) and that was that. No apology, congratulations...nothing. Just, "You can leave." One other item of note. I asked the closing attorney when the deed would get sent out. My wife (who works for the Register of Deeds office) informed her that they do not e-file. The attorney said that wasn't a problem. That the deed would get overnighted that afternoon (Thurs, May 25th). We closed two weeks ago (today is Friday, June 9) and the deed still has not been received at the county (my wife would be the one receiving it - still nothing). Throughout everything, Matthew has been the best part of the experience. If it weren't for him, we would have likely not done business with Berkshire Hathaway. However, because of him, we're enjoying our new-to-us home and have already begun spreading the word to others to consider C. Dan Joyner for their next home purchase.

Thomas Matlock

This was my first time going through becoming a homeowner.

My ignorance was never felt, as Matthew answered and guided me through every step. His knowledge was and is greatly appreciated, along with his patience. As he is an employee at C.Dan Joyner, I am sure the expectation of others are nothing less, so recommending anyone from the company will come highly recommended from me.

"I was very pleased with Matthews integrity, progressionalism and marketing approach. When the realtor before him did little to get our house sold, Matthew came in and got the job done."

"Matthew Thrift helped me and my husband by our first home. He was very knowledgeable and walked us (and the other agent) through the short sale process. He always went the extra mile and was quick to respond with any questions. Very ethical and honest!"

"Matthew is one of the people in real estate you can trust. We were trying to sell a large home in a tough market which required time to get an acceptable offer. During that time we had to trust Matthew not only with the listing but he had to mange the empty property while we were out of state. We had no issues while he took care of the home. When we did return to the property we found it secure and in good shape. When activity picked up again Matthew helped us get the sale. Thank you Matthew"

"Bottom line up front, Matthew Thrift is an excellent real estate agent and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a home. I am an active duty service member and was working to sell my home in South Carolina from my current residence in Hawaii. Needless to say there were many obstacles to getting this done efficiently. Matthew was there every step of the way, from coordinating showings with my tenants, to even helping make sure the landscaping was in show ready condition; which was huge help because I wasn't able to physically go. He even used an advanced secure document signing technology that allowed me to sign the final papers and return them with no delays all the way from Hawaii. Matthew was understanding of my situation and stepped in to make sure that there were no loose ends, ultimately leading to the selling of my home in record time and for a price point that was right in-line with my goals. Again, I would highly recommend Matthew Thrift for anyone looking to buy or sell a home."
